History

Davis Carpet first opened its doors in November 1969, in Enid, Oklahoma. Prior to this, owner Ray Davis was employed as a Fireman and worked part-time at a carpet store. At only 23 years old and a new dad to a four month old baby girl, Ray begrudgingly accepted a $1,000.00 loan from his parents, Lee and Ellen Davis of Bethany. Ray’s parents were supportive yet nervous as Ray embarked on his new journey into the flooring world.

After leaving Enid, Ray moved his family to Bryan, Texas and continued to build a successful business. During his time in Texas, Ray’s father, Lee, became ill and Ray felt it necessary to move back to Oklahoma. After moving his family back home to Oklahoma and searching for a new business location, Ray decided to build his own building of 8,000 square feet at 3550 N. MacArthur in Oklahoma City. Years later Ray was approached by an organization who wanted to purchase his MacArthur building. The timing was perfect as Davis Carpet had outgrown the building and needed something larger for its successful operation.

After searching many possible locations, Ray decided to take a leap of faith and move his business from Oklahoma City to Yukon. In December 1999, Davis Carpet opened the doors to its new 12,000 square feet building located at 750 East Main in Yukon. 

Davis Carpet has been and will remain family owned and operated. Ray shall forever remain a permanent fixture in the founding of his company as the second and third generations of his family to run its to this day.
